Description:
The Arizona Memorial Museum Association is a non-profit formed to give the public an opportunity to provide ongoing support for the USS ARIZONA Memorial. Since 1979, The Arizona Memorial Museum Association has provided more than $9 million to assist the the National Park Service with its interpretive operations. Every year, 1.5 million visitors from all over the world travel to Pearl Harbor and the USS ARIZONA Memorial. They come to honor the men and women who gave their lives on the day that will live forever in infamy, December 7, 1941. They also come to learn the history of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent United States involvement in World War II. Not everyone can visit the memorial personally. But with Witness to History videoconferencing programs: Pearl Harbor Survivor series, The Interpretive Ranger series and Inside the Vault: The Curator series, students worldwide can learn about the events surrounding December 7, 1941. The Witness to History program is sponsored by the National Park Service and the U.S. Navy/Marine Learning Network. The three Witness to History series are funded by the Arizona Memorial Museum Association.

Educator Comments:
It was a great opportunity for our students. They did an outstanding job engaging our students and answering any questions they had.

Great Pearl Harbor Survivors program.

The Pearl Harbor survivors who participate in the programs from the Arizona Memorial Museum are true American heroes. What a privilege it is to be able to bring them to my students via electronic field trips. This program is the best I have seen in this medium.

Survivor Series program, this program was really captivating. What a treat to meet the survivors.. they were engaging, not to mention the dialog helped the students with a better understanding of the events of that day

excellent programs - engaging for the students.

Arizona Memorial Museum Assoc. -presenters very interesting and content exceptional

The students enjoyed talking to first hand sources on the topic.

The students were blown away by the experience of speaking to actual survivors of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. We were so appreciative because this treasure will not be available for many more years.

Very interesting content. Students liked being able to ask the survivors questions. Participants enjoyed the stories from the Pearl Harbor Attack survivors.

The material sent by the coordinator was amazing. After several emails and phone calls we were able to work out a date and time - not always easy when you are in different time zones! We also recieved follow-up information from the coordinator and the veterans after our conference.

The Arizona Memorial gave me chills when I visited--I was truly touched.

Our students were inspired by the Pearl Harbor survivors talking from the Arizona Memorial. It was an unforgetable experience. Linda Meltzner Computer Tech Farmingdale School District

Arizona Memorial brings history to life as students hear and discuss one of the darkest days in US history by speaking directly to the people that were there.

The Arizona Memorial Museum provides great history lessons as survivors of Pearl Harbor tell their story and visit with students.
