Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations are required 72 hours in advance. There is no charge for cancellations due to acts of nature (snow, etc.) or technical failure. However, we do require you to reschedule the class. Classes that are "no shows" and cancellations received after the 72 hour window are subject to the full program fee.

Center for Puppetry Arts : Puppet Building 101: Jointed Rod Puppets


Description
Participants will build a working, jointed rod style puppet from recycled newspaper, masking tape, and craft sticks! Based on the human figure and human proportions, puppets can be transformed into just about any character. The extended workshop (90 minutes) offers participants an opportunity to bring their puppets to life through manipulation exercises and scripted scenes (PLEASE NOTE: the 90 minute class is $225.00). Though participants will each build their own individual puppet, teamwork is required during manipulation. Traditional Bunraku puppets, pictures, and video clips enhance the content. This workshop is ideal for team building and for anyone 14 years + who wants to learn how to build a real, working puppet.


Preparation
Preparation is required for this program. All participants create a puppet during the program. Materials must be collected prior to program (newspaper, wide masking tape, and craft sticks). Please download the Teacher Resource Guide with the materials list and teacher preparation letter.
