InkThinkTank-Authors on Call : How Do We Know the Earth Is Moving?

Description
How do we know the earth is moving when it looks like the sky is moving? Today we all know that the earth moves but most people don't know HOW we know that. Vicki Cobb, recipient of the AAAS Lifetime Achievement Prize for 2012, tells the compelling story of how the imaginations of Copernicus and Galileo predicted the proof that the sun moves around the earth and how they fought for the acceptance of an idea we don't stop to think about today.
Children will become outraged at Galileo's punishment and will quickly see that we're still resisting scientific truth. This program humanizes the BIG ideas of science.

Preparation
This program is most useful for students studying the solar system.
It is helpful if the students have some idea of the forces of gravity and of inertia. You can read the first two questions of Vicki Cobb's book, What's the BIG Idea?
