Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre : Be a Marine Biologist


Description
One aspect of becoming a marine biologist is being able to complete experiments to answer questions about our world. During this Live Lab, students will complete virtual experiments with the help of our biologist instructors. Students will develop questions and hypotheses based on information provided about local organisms. During the Live Lab, students will carry out the experiments over the Internet with BMSC's enthusiastic staff. Students will assist with data collection and ensure that our biologists carry out the experiments properly! Students will then write up their experiment and can even prepare presentations to present to their fellow classmates.


Preparation
Information regarding potential experiments will be sent to the teacher well in advance of the Live Lab. Teachers will work with students prior to the Live Lab to develop questions and hypotheses regarding organisms found in and around Barkley Sound. Students will write up reports and potentially do presentations after they have collected their data during the Live Lab.
